About Us

The Information Systems Security Association (ISSA)® is a not-for-profit, international organization of information security professionals and practitioners. It provides educational forums, publications and peer interaction opportunities that enhance the knowledge, skill and professional growth of its members.

Membership

With active participation from individuals and chapters all over the world, the ISSA is the largest international, not-for-profit association specifically for security professionals. Members include practitioners at all levels of the security field in a broad range of industries, such as communications, education, healthcare, manufacturing, financial and government.

The ISSA international board consists of some of the most influential people in the security industry, with representatives from Dell Computer Corporation, EDS, Forrester Research Inc., Symantec and Washington Mutual. With an international communications network developed throughout the industry, the ISSA is focused on maintaining its position as The Global Voice of Information Security.

Central PA Chapter Mission Statement

To provide local Information Security professionals with industry information, educational seminars and peer interaction opportunities that will enhance the knowledge, skill and professional growth of its members and provide added value to the organizations they serve.

Central PA Chapter Goals

  • To promote the education of, and help expand the knowledge and skills of its members in the interrelated fields of information systems security, and information or data processing;
  • To encourage a free exchange of information security techniques, approaches, and problem solving by its members;
  • To provide adequate communication to keep members abreast of current events in information processing and security which can be beneficial to them and employers;
  • To communicate to management, and to systems and information processing professionals the importance of establishing controls necessary to ensure the secure organization and utilization of information processing resources;
  • To provide support for professional development through industry conferences, meetings and seminars;
  • To provide opportunities of leadership for the Information Security industry;

Typically chapter meetings and presentations are held the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 6:00pm to 7:30pm (excluding June, July and August).
